This week we had a guest speaker, Derek, from the West Midlands Police in to do an assembly about cannabis. The students were engaged in the sessions and asked him a few questions after the talk.
Derek spoke about the effects cannabis has on the student’s mental health and the impact it can have if they are on medication. Derek also went through a few myths around cannabis and explored the legal implication of carrying, storing, distributing and growing cannabis. This is especially topical because of Country Lines and the risk to young people through child criminal exploitation.
Pupils were engaged, respectful and responded well, openly discussing the social pressures to use cannabis and the dangers of distributing drugs.
