“Developing potential in all young people”

Welcome to Riverside Education

Our unique friendly family ethos is driven by our strong vision and values based on integrity, honesty and respect. These core values underpin the teaching and learning, providing all of our students with a safe environment in which we strive to prepare them to be confident, independent people who will be proactive citizens in our exciting multicultural world.

At Riverside, all of our young people are treated with respect and their opinions are important to us. We welcome and address each other by our first names as it fosters a positive relationship between staff and students, removes traditional educational barriers, and puts students in a better position to take charge of their own learning and feel more confident to build positive relationships.
The views and opinions of our students are an integral part of the decision making process at Riverside. Our young people’s voice is fundamental to our success and is actively encouraged in many different ways such as: School Council, weekly pupil self-assessment forms, assemblies, student house leaders, student questionnaires and termly student curriculum reviews. We truly value all of our young people and actively encourage them to take ownership of their learning and embrace all of the educational, vocational, practical and social and emotional opportunities available to them.

Our unique and caring approach works to support our pupils’ social, emotional and mental health needs as well as developing their academic potential and achievements. All of our qualified dedicated staff work hard and are committed to developing the potential in each and every one of our students.

Our strength and drive comes from our commitment and passion to provide an inclusive environment where respect, responsibility and emotional wellbeing are high profile, as well as academic achievement. We are relentlessly committed to improvement, and we work with all of our parents, carers and other partners to secure success.

All of our team at Riverside Education promotes the values of honesty, respect and integrity. The ability of our staff to see potential in every young person is vital to achieving our aims. Everything we do is centered around our young people and we actively encourage all of our pupils to become involved in the development of our school community.

Our school operates for 38 weeks of the year providing 100 full time places to our students. Our unique environment provides a variety of educational options such as on-site academic programmes (Entry level, level 1/2 and GCSE), a range of quality vocational courses along with specialised one to one onsite and off-site provision including home tutoring.

Welcome to Riverside Vocational College

Riverside Vocational College works with young people aged 14 – 19, who enjoy working in a more practical learning environment. Our hands on approach to education enables our students to gain new skills and experiences in a range of vocational subjects delivered in our purpose built workshops.

We currently offer a multi-skills construction course where students can specialise in units such as; bricklaying, plumbing, woodwork, tiling, and painting and decorating.

We also have a purpose built working hair salon where students can access a range of specialist courses in; creative hair design, beauty, nails and barbering across level 1 and level 2.

Our young people will learn through realistic, practical, hands on activities delivered by supportive qualified staff who will work to remove the more traditional educational barriers many of our young people have experienced in the past. All of our courses are tailor made to build students’ social skills and confidence and equip them with skills they need to transition positively into the world of employment.

Students will be able to access a wide range of qualifications including certificates, awards, as well as level 1 and level 2. Alongside their chosen vocational course(s), students will also study maths and English at functional skills and/or GCSE level.

Welcome to WBLP

Students will have the opportunity to access a wide range of agricultural activities all within 14 acres of beautiful countryside.

The farm provision has been built around our unique Work-Based Learning Programme. The programme is designed to help young people gain work and life skills by caring for the farm animals and maintaining the fields and enclosures, whilst being fully supported and guided by our experienced, skilled staff.

At our farm, students will be able to access a range of level 1 and level 2 qualifications, including Horticulture and Animal Care.  We work to re-engage marginalised young people and instil in them a love of learning and the outdoors. Our key aim is to secure the best outcomes for all students and their families. The farm team is led by Jade, and all staff are extremely passionate and pride themselves on providing more than just an ‘academic education’ to meet the needs of our young people and their families. Our mission is to develop potential in all the young people that we work with. We will do this through providing a therapeutic, stimulating and practical learning environment that is interesting and fun, giving them the opportunities to gain skills they can use now and in later life. It is our hope that this environment will promote the fundamental British values that will enable our young people to be proud citizens of their country.
